Commissioner John Fanning represents SMD 2F06, which consists of the areas east of Vermont and 13th Sts NW all the way to 12th St NW and north of M St NW and N St NW. 

John is a longtime resident of the District of Columbia and has spent a majority of his career in public service. He was appointed to work in Councilmember

At-large Anita Bonds office in February 2022, and currently serves as the Director of Constituent Services. John was first elected in 1992 to Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2C and elected again to ANC 2F in 2012-2021, also previously serving as the Chair of the Commission. John was appointed to the Barry Administration in 1994, serving as the Ward 2 Liaison in the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services. He was re-appointed to this position during the Williams, Gray and Bowser Administrations. John currently serves on the DC Democratic State Committee as the Ward 2 Committeeman, and he was appointed by the DC City Council in 2023 to serve on the Commission on Aging.
